Cockatoo in Blue
36×24
oil/board
When I returned home after a recent trip to Australia, I was very inspired to paint cockatoos. These beautiful large parrots are as common as an ordinary American Robin. In the wild, they become rather tame and allowed me to get close to them.

I work with coloured pencils, but if I could paint even just a fraction as good as this, I’d switch in a flash. Thank you for sharing your work, you are an inspiration.
I adore this painting! I have just learned that my poetry collection WAL-MART ORCHID is being published, and I am looking for an image for the front cover. Would you consider letting me use this painting (or your other orchid and bird painting) for the front cover? Of course, the painting would be attributed to you.

Beautiful!! Congrat. you have big talent with big T! Good luck
Hi, Lori. I just found your site and love all the information you share, which I will definitely use as inspiration in my oil painting. I just had to comment on your gorgeous cockatoo and orchid painting … two of my favorite things. I have orchids in bloom now and am going to begin a painting of one this weekend!
Hello Sharon, thank you so much. Yes, I also love orchids and have been inspired by Martin Johnson Heade’s works of hummingbirds and orchid. I got to see wild cockatoos last fall! I was in heaven…
